MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
Teaching young minds is a duty that cannot be taken lightly. It is filled with challenges, frustrations, and responsibilities, balanced by excitement, surprise, and joy. All children are capable of learning if they have the proper motivation and direction from their teachers. Building a sense of community in the classroom and promoting positive relationships among students and teachers is also critically important. As a teacher, I strive to create an atmosphere that encourages curiosity and determination, and helps students form good habits. Students are important and should be treated as such; respected, cared for, and believed in.
Students who are fully engaged in the learning process will not only retain information, but also will be excited to learn and be motivated to learn more. I encourage students to take responsibility for their own education and to take pride in their work. Taking advantage of motivational strategies in the classroom fosters a passion for learning. Patience and persistence are also necessary when reaching out to students.
I want students to be inspired by the example I set for them. I show them that reading, math, social studies, and science are in the world all around them. I let them see first hand with field trips, projects, and hands on learning. My primary goal as a teacher is to instill a passion for learning within my students that will make them a life long learner. I want to provide a foundation for my students that will help them as they mature through school and into the rest of their life.
