I come form a long line of teachers and have always had a intense love for learning. I became a educator to help other become independent learners. Teaching is one of the most direct ways to make an impact, and I have been driven by the desire to help those around me.

My career in education has taken me all over the world. After growing up in southwest Michigan, I attended American University in Washington, D.C., and held teaching positions in Nairobi, Kenya, Seoul, South Korea, and McLeod Ganj, India and Baltimore, Maryland.

I have taught students from five to eighteen and I have discovered that I love teaching kindergarten. Every year it feels like a huge accomplishment when you take students who come in literally not knowing any letters or numbers, and help them unlocking the keys to literacy and math! For this reason it was important to me to focus on Early Childhood Education when I obtained my Master's Degree from Johns Hopkins University.
