My classroom is a place where everyone feels welcomed and excited to learn
Meeting the Needs of All Students
Kindergarteners exhibit a broad range of abilities in reading, writing, and math. Because of this, my instruction is differentiated through flexible seating, small groups, guided
instructions, and one-on-one intervention throughout the day.
My kindergarten classroom features a literature-rich environment where students are immersed in chants, songs, phonemic awareness, writing activities, and literacy centers. I focus on both oral and written language development.
I teach foundational math concepts on the concrete level first before moving toward an abstract level. Daily work incorporates hands-on materials and math manipulatives. This provides children with opportunities for learning and applying concepts related to number sense, patterns, and computation.
Beginning in kindergarten, students nurture their creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills through a focus on 21st Century Fluencies. Technology is a key component in our daily classroom inquiry.
ABOUT MY CLASSROOM
Preparing Today's Students for Tomorrow's Challenges
Kindergarten College is designed to provide
rewarding encounters and to help children interpret new experiences through routines which promote maximum physical, mental, emotional, and social growth.
I will help children grow in a child-centered, activity-oriented atmosphere by providing opportunities for each child to develop a happy, positive attitude towards learning. I will strive to expand every child’s natural curiosity by exploring and investigating aspects of the world. Students will learn to respect others while they learn to accept routines and responsibilities.
My Classroom is an Inclusion Classroom
As an inclusion classroom, my main role is to plan, coordinate, schedule, and evaluate curriculum and instructional outcomes within a secure and positive classroom environment for all students, including those with disabilities. I will:
-
Develop and implement weekly lesson plans that facilitate the participation and learning of all students.
-
Maintain communication with students and parents.
-
Work collaboratively with the special education team to assist in development of a support plan that meets the needs of all students in the classroom and supervise the para-educator’s completion of designated activities when in the general education classroom.
-
Keep the special education teacher informed as to the performance of students with disabilities in my class on a regular basis.
-
Provide a copy of midterm grades and assign report card grades collaboratively with the special education teacher.
